Hello Fellow Zazzites,

Nowadays people are struggling to put delicious meals on the table because the cost of food is so outrageous. Most families are going over budget weekly, having to dig into another pocket to make ends “meat”. We are doing without other things just so we can feed our families.

Let’s help each other out by making it our mission to find recipes that won’t make a dent in our wallets.

This tag game can help us all with weekly meal planning. If one plans for the week, it is easier to stay on budget. No food goes to waste because you know what you are cooking ahead of time and you know what you need for the week.

Below you will find different food categories with our members’ favorite, affordable recipes. You do not need to stick to those recipes, feel free to tag any budget-friendly recipe you find anywhere. Post the link in this thread, make it, review it, and report back here letting us know how it turned out. It would be great if you could mention Zazz in the review to promote the game and this site. ;)

This tag game will officially open on March 1st but you may post any budget-friendly recipes you would like to offer up to tag starting now. I will add them to the list as they come up

Tips:

Cooking on a budget doesn’t just mean “cheap”. Ways to stretch the budget also include making your own mixes, i.e. baking mix, spice mixes etc. Buy the basic herbs and spices, but use them to mix up your own, i.e. chili seasoning, ethnic mixes, etc. Do not buy premixed things like garam masala, Italian seasoning etc. you can find a lot of herb and spice mix recipes online.
If not a vegetarian, try a couple of meatless meal nights.
I don’t feel guilty at holidays buying a ham or leg of lamb, because you can make so many more meals with the leftovers.
And make soup, it can last for at least 2 meals.

So true Mikekey. I make most of my own mixes also and keep them in mason jars. I prefer it that way as you know exactly what is in the product! And it is much cheaper, saving you money to "splurge" on something else.
