Step 1

Preheat oven to 350F. Coat a 8-inch square cake pan with nonstick cooking spray (or grease and flour pan)

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl with electric mixer, cream butter and brown sugar.

Step 3

Beat in egg, milk, vanilla, and mashed banana until blended.

Step 4

Combine remaining dry ingredients and spices. Stir the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until moistened.

Step 5

Spread into prepared pan. Bake 25-30 minutes, until cake springs back when lightly touched with finger.

Step 6

Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into 9 squares.

Delicious!!! I added in some chopped pecans...the cake came out nice and moist...the hubby couldn't wait to eat a piece...I served it with my creamy white frosting #recipe21547 dropped on it...this is a keeper...made for "Down Home Cooking"

The ingredient list seemed to be a bit long until I got to getting this together and it was not at all long. It turned out marvelous and was quite easy to put together.
