Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, then prepare a 15 x 10-inch jelly-roll pan or baking sheet.

Step 2

Slice the bread into about 3/4-inch slices (I use my electric knife for slicing).

Step 3

In the microwave or stove top melt the butter with garlic powder, then mix in the dried parsley.

Step 4

Place the bread slices on the baking sheet.

Step 5

Using a pastry brush generously coat the tops of each slice with the melted butter/garlic mixture.

Step 6

Sprinkle tops of each slice lightly with Parmesan cheese.

Step 7

Bake for about 8 minutes or until lightly toasted.

Step 8

Remove from heat then sprinkle shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese onto each slice.

Step 9

Return to oven and bake for another 3-5 minutes or until cheese has melted and the bread is lightly toasted.

Tips & Variations

I scaled back using two thick slices from a ciabatta loaf of bread and made as directed for a delicious cheesy garlic bread that went well with the pizza I had for dinner. Thank you Kittencal, made for Alphabet Tag Game at FF&F.
