Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 loaf unsliced Italian or French bread use a 1-pound loaf)
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 teaspoons garlic powder (can use more)
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (can use more or less or can use shredded cheddar cheese)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, then prepare a 15 x 10-inch jelly-roll pan or baking sheet.

  • Step 2: Slice the bread into about 3/4-inch slices (I use my electric knife for slicing).

  • Step 3: In the microwave or stove top melt the butter with garlic powder, then mix in the dried parsley.

  • Step 4: Place the bread slices on the baking sheet.

  • Step 5: Using a pastry brush generously coat the tops of each slice with the melted butter/garlic mixture.

  • Step 6: Sprinkle tops of each slice lightly with Parmesan cheese.

  • Step 7: Bake for about 8 minutes or until lightly toasted.

  • Step 8: Remove from heat then sprinkle shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese onto each slice.

  • Step 9: Return to oven and bake for another 3-5 minutes or until cheese has melted and the bread is lightly toasted.
