Step by Step Method
Step 1
Melt butter in a deep saucepan.
Step 2
Add flour and stir well.
Step 3
Cook over low heat until deep brown, stirring constantly.
Step 4
Gradually add stock, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil.
Step 5
Cover and simmer over medium heat for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Step 6
Top with croutons and grated cheese.
