"Who doesn't like a grilled cheese sandwich? Anyone? Anyone? I didn't think so. ... What's easier to make than a grilled cheese sandwich? Not much! ... When you add avocado to a grilled cheese sandwich, who can resist the combo? Definitely NOT ME! -- I take no credit for this all-occasion recipe. It was found at realsimpledotcom & looked too good not to share AND add to my "Avocado Collection"cookbook. I'm entering the recipe as written, but please read my note at the end of the prep steps and ENJOY!"

Step 1

Melt the butter in a sml skillet over med-low heat.

Step 2

Form a sandwich w/the bread, cheese, onion & avocado.

Step 3

Cook the sandwich (covered) until the bread is toasted & the cheese is melted (2-3 min per side).

Step 4

BOTTOM LINE: Use your favorite method. We've all been able to make grilled cheese sandwiches for a long time.

NOTE FROM ME: I've entered the recipe as written, but my preference would be to use either .. OR .. The avocado butter from instead of the avocado slices. Just saying you have other options

California dreaming on a cold, snowy day! I used sourdough bread, smoked provolone and thinly sliced Vidalia onions. Served avocado spread on the side b/c DH doesn't like it. Yummy sandwich made for your football win 12/2016

I used wholegrain bread and thoroughly enjoyed this great sandwich for lunch, all the flavours come together o well without any being over powering, thank you twissis made for For Your Consideratiob tag game at FF&FF

Smells Like Salad

I'm always open to a new direction for grilled cheese sandwiches. This one was good. I used a smoked gouda and light whole wheat bread. A few pea shoot tendrils added some bulk for this was our main dish with a cold soup on a very hot day. Thank you for posting. Next time I'll try white cheddar cheese. Made for the FYC tag game.

This is a really lovely grilled cheese sandwich Twisted. The filling is delicious, rich, cheesy and creamy. Quick and easy to make. I grilled the bread so that it was well done and had a lovely crust, it worked well with this recipe. Thank you for sharing a recipe that I will enjoy often. Made FYC Tag Game.
