Step 1

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium high heat.

Step 2

Add the dark brown sugar to the butter and stir together (use a wooden spoon).

Step 3

Add the sliced bananas, stirring to coat and until they are caramelized on both sides.

Step 4

Remove from heat.

Step 5

Add the rum.

Step 6

Using a long lighter or match, light the bananas and flambé.

Step 7

Shake the pan to coat bananas until flame dies out and the alcohol cooks out.

Step 8

Serve over a slice of pound cake and vanilla ice cream.

Two of us found this quite delicious. It didn't act like it was supposed to in the pan we couldn't burn off the uncooked alcohol flavor. One of us really doesn't like the flavor or alcohol very much.
