"If I had to name the most amazing recipe I've ever tried I'd have to say it's this 1 ingredient ice cream. You need to try it yourself to see how much like real ice cream this is! You can add a second fruit with the same fantastic results as long as at least half the mixture is banana. This recipe is all over the web with mostly rave reviews. Use just ripe or over ripe bananas depending on how much banana flavour you want. The over ripe bananas have a more intense banana flavour. The prep time does not include the time to freeze the bananas"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Freeze bananas on a wax paper or parchment paper lined tray until until solid (2 hours or overnight)

Step 2

Add to food processor (not a blender - the blade isn't big enough) and blend until creamy. Be patient, they will first become grainy. You'll need to scrape them down a few times and continue blending until they're creamy. It should take about 3 to 5 minutes.

Step 3

If you choose to add a flavouring, add with the bananas.

Step 4

Top with maple syrup, nuts, etc, if desired. (I like it plain)

This is amazing. I was surprised at how much it really tastes like ice cream and this has the creamy texture of ice cream also. This will satisfy any sweet tooth all on it's own.

My son had his little buddy over for a sleepover and I wanted to give them something to do for fun, so we made these.  They really loved them and we will make them again!

Cant believe how much these bananas really do taste like ice cream. We had this for dessert and I added some chopped nuts, chocolate syrup, and a dollop of whipped cream. When making the ice cream I used almond flavoring and that added a mild cherry flavor. It will be fun to experiment with different flavorings and also try it in a waffle cone. A healthier treat for my grandsons too. Will definitely be making this again! Made and reviewed for Traditional Christmas Favorites.
