Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat a barbecue to medium heat (alternatively these can also be cooked in the oven, preheat oven to 180C and cook for 10 to 15 minutes).

Step 2

Place 20cm x 25cm squares of foil on benchtop and top with sheets of baking paper the same size.

Step 3

Unwrap the cambert and make 5 to 6 slashes in the top of each and insert a few slices of garlic and some of the thyme in each cut and scatter remaining thyme over the top and drizzle with a little oil and season with cracked black pepper.

Step 4

Fold in sides of the foil to form a parcel and seal edges.

Step 5

Place canbert poarcels on the coolest part of the barbecue and cover with a lid or roasting pan and cook for about 8 minutes or until the camembert is soft in the centre.

Step 6

Serve warm with crackers.

I love this easy recipe. I did it in the oven at 350F (Cheese was already at room temp) for 7 minutes. It was small wheel just for the 2 of us. so I pre - cut the wheel in half, placed it on foil, added slices of garlic and thyme. 7 minutes had the cheese lovely & soft but just before the runny stage. It was served on slices of baguette. We loved it.
