"This is just about my favorite way to enjoy Vegemite. I was not sure how much bread weighed, so weight is approx; although only 2 slices are needed for each toastie, and slices need to be hand sliced. If not a thick sliced bread will do. "From Vegemite Australia""

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Hand slice the loaf into 2 thick slices (thicker than store bought).

Step 2

Coat one side of the bread in butter and Vegemite.

Step 3

Coat the other side in Mayonnaise.

Step 4

With Mayonnaise face down, place the grated cheese(s) on top of the Vegemite.

Step 5

Heat fry pan on medium to low setting.

Step 6

Place the slices of bread mayonnaise side down in the fry pan.

Step 7

Cook until the cheese begins to melt.

Step 8

Place one side on top of the other to close the sandwich.

Step 9

Keep turning on each side until golden brown and the cheese has melted.
