"This is an easy number and quite a tasty dish. If I have some leftover in the fridge I sometimes throw in some cooked ground beef"

Made for the Pick Me tag game – While I made your recipe as written, I did take the liberty of adding a finishing touch topping (buttered breadcrumbs w/a bit of garlic & dried herbs) as I was sharing the yield w/my neighbor who lives alone & was having a guest for dinner. There were 2 of us & 2 of them, so I divided the yield (on the heavy side for us) & oven-baked it in 2 smaller round baking dishes. For us, it was served w/sml trout fillets & avocado wedges. This was delicious comfort food for me for decades when I lived in the US. My best friend there cooked it often for her family of 7. She knew how much we liked it, so she often invited my son & I to dine w/them when she made it. Thx for sharing this recipe. I loved it & it was fast-tracked into my “Favorite Go-To Recipes” Cookbook. (Pics will post later today)
