"This is real comfort food to me. Especially on those cold Winter nights. You may make this with or with out the apple. Substitute a smoked spicy sausage for the chops for a change."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Mix the potatoes and kraut.
Step 2
Place half of the potato mixture on the bottom of a lightly greased oven proof dish ( Pyrex pie plate will do).
Step 3
Place the chop in the dish, spread the mustard on the chops, spread the apple slices over the chops, cover with remaining potato mixture.
Step 4
Season with salt and pepper, cut up the butter in small pieces and place on top.
Step 5
Seal with foil, bake in 350f oven for 45 minutes, uncover and bake a further 15 minutes allowing the potato/kraut mixture to brown nicely.
