Step by Step Method

Melt margarine in a large saucepan and blend in flour.

Gradually stir in milk.
Step 3
Cook, whisking constantly, until mixture boils and thickens.

Add seasonings and cool slightly.

Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored.
Step 6
In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff.
Step 7
Add yolks to slightly cooled milk mixture.
Step 8
Add cheese, stirring until cheese is melted.
Step 9
Fold in beaten egg whites.
Step 10
Turn into a greased 8 by 10 inch casserole dish.
Step 11
Set pan in hot water.
Step 12
Bake in a preheated 325 degree oven for about one hour or until golden brown.
