  • 14 egg yolks
  • 14 egg whites

How to Make

  • Step 1: Melt margarine in a large saucepan and blend in flour.

  • Step 2: Gradually stir in milk.

  • Step 3: Cook, whisking constantly, until mixture boils and thickens.

  • Step 4: Add seasonings and cool slightly.

  • Step 5: Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored.

  • Step 6: In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff.

  • Step 7: Add yolks to slightly cooled milk mixture.

  • Step 8: Add cheese, stirring until cheese is melted.

  • Step 9: Fold in beaten egg whites.

  • Step 10: Turn into a greased 8 by 10 inch casserole dish.

  • Step 11: Set pan in hot water.

  • Step 12: Bake in a preheated 325 degree oven for about one hour or until golden brown.
