Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

Step 2

Make a deep lengthwise slit in the unpeeled banana, without cutting all the way through it (about 3/4 of an inch).

Step 3

Squeeze apart banana like you would a baked potato, or use your fingers to make an opening where you cut. Spread/stuff peanut butter evenly inside along the bottom. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top of peanut butter.

Step 4

Wrap banana in foil, sealing the top to form a sort of “boat”.

Step 5

Bake for about 12 minutes.

Step 6

Carefully remove foil (don't be alarmed that the skin has partially turned brown, that's what happens when you bake bananas). Banana should be softened and chocolate chips melted. I also like to take the back of a spoon and swipe along the chocolate chips to smooth them out.

Step 7

Eat straight out of the peel with a spoon!

Easy fun snack. Would be perfect for a campfire instead of s'mores. Followed the directions exactly (guessing instead of measuring) and the time was perfect. I bet kids would love this. I just think I like bananas and PB at least room temp unless baked into something.

Very easy to make. I discovered I didn't have milk chocolate chips and used dark chocolate. Mine didn't seem to get to the melting point after 20 minutes at 450° so I didn't spread the chocolate, just enjoyed it just as it was!
