Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325F.

Step 2

In a large saucepan, over medium heat, melt butter.

Step 3

Add cocoa and sugar; mix well and remove from heat.

Step 4

Beat in eggs and flavoring.

Step 5

Mix together flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into batter.

Step 6

Stir in oatmeal and nuts.

Step 7

Pour batter into a 9x13 Pyrex dish, sprayed with cooking spray.

Step 8

Bake at 325F. for 25-30 minutes.

Step 9

Do not over bake!

Step 10

Glaze or frost, if desired.

Step 11

Cool completely before cutting into squares.

Wow, are these decadent! I cut recipe in half and used an 8 x 8 -inch pan. I used the coffee option, chopped pecans, and butter-pecan extract flavoring. Will keep this for special occasions, since they are too rich and sinful for everyday!
