  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (plain)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups oats (quick cooking oatmeal not instant)
  • 1 cup nuts (chopped and toasted - OPTIONAL)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 325F.

  • Step 2: In a large saucepan, over medium heat, melt butter.

  • Step 3: Add cocoa and sugar; mix well and remove from heat.

  • Step 4: Beat in eggs and flavoring.

  • Step 5: Mix together flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into batter.

  • Step 6: Stir in oatmeal and nuts.

  • Step 7: Pour batter into a 9x13 Pyrex dish, sprayed with cooking spray.

  • Step 8: Bake at 325F. for 25-30 minutes.

  • Step 9: Do not over bake!

  • Step 10: Glaze or frost, if desired.
