Step by Step Method
Step 1
Rice: Boil water, add rice, salt and butter.
Step 2
Cover and simmer on low for 20 minutes.
Step 3
Remove from heat and let stand covered (5 minutes) until all water is absorbed.
Step 4
Cabbage: While rice cooks, fry bacon in a large skillet until crisp.
Step 5
Remove bacon from pan and drain on paper towel. Stir cabbage into bacon grease and cook 1 minute. Stir in sugar, paprika, 2 tablespoons water and a dash of salt.
Step 6
Cover and cook for about 5 minutes.
Step 7
Add rice, bacon and sour cream .
Step 8
Heat through but don't boil or overcook.
Step 9
Season to taste.
