"What a classic recipe that is so easy to prepare, and has been around for years. But it is still a fantastic appetizer. Great for a pot luck, game day/night, get together, company, or an easy weeknight dinner."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Chicken ... Add the chicken to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil, lightly sprayed with a non-stick spray. Season with plenty of salt and pepper and lightly spray with a non-stick spray or olive oil. I use my atomizer which is filled with olive oil. Let the chicken rest for 15-20 minutes to take the chill off before cooking it.

Step 2

Broil ... On the second shelf down in your oven, broil on each side for about 5 minutes, until the skin browns up a bit, and you get a little crust, Remember, they will finish cooking in the crock pot; this will just crisp up the skin before adding to the crock pot.

Step 3

Crock Pot ...Transfer to the crock pot and turn on low heat. Mix the honey, soy sauce, ketchup, oil, and garlic to a small bowl and pour over the chicken. Cover and cook 4-5 hours on high - my newer pot takes only 4 hours. Remember, all crock pots can vary in cooking time. The newer ones tend to cook much hotter, so just check.

Step 4

Sesame Seeds ... Add the sesame seeds to a dry saute pan and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes until you begin to smell them; and, they begin to lightly toast. Remove, to a bowl until ready to use. This is NOT necessary, but I really enjoy the flavor. You can always use them without toasting them.

Step 5

Serve ... About 15 minutes before serving, stir to combine, and continue to cook an additional 15 minutes. Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with the sesame seeds. ENJOY!

I thought using my big crock pot 4 hours would be perfect but when I checked at 3 1/2 hours the meat was falling of the bone on those wings in the lower part of the pot so gave a stir and turned them off (this pot does not have a keep warm function) but the end result was absolutely delicious. I had scaled back for 2 serves but still halved the amount of honey and even then that was half honey and half agave syrup, this was done for dietary reasons and since this did not send my BGL's through the roof I will certainly be making this again, absolutely delicious, this time I served with couscous but next time I will consider rice and steam vegetable so some of that delicious sauce can be served over the rice. Thank you Kchurchill5 made for Alphabet Soup tag game.
