Deviled Chicken Drumsticks

"These drums are perfect picnic food. Great hot, cold or room temp. When I made this...I thought the oven temp was too high for my old I baked a combo of legs & thighs at 375F and found that was a perfect temp that resulted in beautifully golden juicy chicken."

Step 1

Preheat oven to 450°F with rack in upper third. (I use 375F)

Step 2

Pat chicken dry, then toss with mustard until evenly coated.

Step 3

Stir together panko, cheese, cayenne, and 1/2 teaspoon each of salt and pepper; drizzle with butter and toss.

Step 4

Dredge each drumstick in crumb mixture to coat, then arrange, without crowding, in a buttered or parchment lined large 4-sided sheet pan.

Step 5

Roast until chicken is browned and cooked through, about 30 minutes.

Step 6

Serve warm or at room temperature.

Tips & Variations

No special items needed.



I scaled back for 1 and used a Maryland cut (thigh and drum intact) which took 50 minutes to bake in a fan forced oven at 175C. The skin was crispy and the flesh soft and moist and the flavour divine. Thank you Luvcookn, made for What's On The Menu tag game at FF&F.

This is so good...I found a steal on drumsticks while shopping and remembered this recipe...(the hubby hates drumsticks) I bought two packages of 12...(they are all mine)...I cut this recipe in half and have leftovers and froze the rest for "LATER"...this will be made again's so easy and the dijon flavor is time I'm increasing the cayenne pepper...thanks for sharing your recipe...

Oh my goodness, this was fantastic!!!!! I have never seen my husband eat 3 servings of anything and he did with this. It is so quick and easy to prepare, it will definitely be made again often. Thx for sharing this recipe here. :-)

These are very good -- I had to use regular breadcrumbs but otherwise followed the recipe as written. A great and easy way to prepare chicken. Thanks for sharing!
