"My grandma always said these were the best waffles ever, and I have to agree! A family favourite that is a must make when we gather for special weekends. These awesome tasting waffles are crisp on the outside, light, moist and tender in the inside and so easy to make. Served with a variety of toppings our favourite being strawberries and whipped cream."

Oh my...crispy and fluffy waffles! The BEST! Love the buttermilk in these beauties and the directions are spot on. I cut the recipe in half for the two of us, but will make the whole batch when family comes. Thank you for sharing another of your keeper recipes Gerry!

I am so glad I tagged these waffles!! Your grandmother is right Gerry, they are EXCELLENT! Normally it is touted that to achieve fluffy waffles, beaten stiff egg whites are necessary. Not true. These are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. My husband made these today for my Mother's Day breakfast and he added blueberries and about a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Due to timing, he let the batter sit in the refrigerator for about an hour and they came out fab! They are DELICIOUS and I LOVED THEM. Thank you Gerry!

Wow! Your Grandma was right. These are tasty and so light. We don't do waffles often so I am really glad when I try a new recipe for them and it turns out great. I still use my grandmother's 1930s Montgomery Ward waffle iron. Will be making this recipe again. Great way to use up leftover buttermilk from other recipes.
