Step by Step Method

Preheat the broiler.

Take 1 slice of sourdough bread (approximately 1 ounce).

Sprinkle 4 ounces of shredded Swiss cheese over the ham, ensuring it covers the entire surface.
Step 11
Place the prepared gratin dish back under the broiler and cook until the cheese is melted and develops light brown spots.
Step 12
Once the cheese has melted and lightly browned, remove the dish from the broiler.
