Step 9: Arrange 2 ounces of Black Forest deli ham on top of the onion.
Step 10: Sprinkle 4 ounces of shredded Swiss cheese over the ham, ensuring it covers the entire surface.
Step 11: Place the prepared gratin dish back under the broiler and cook until the cheese is melted and develops light brown spots.
Step 12: Once the cheese has melted and lightly browned, remove the dish from the broiler.
