Sweet & Spicy Glazed Meatballs

"A sweet heat meatball recipe that packs a lot of flavour from Asian ingredients. This recipe make about 40 meatballs for appetizer size and if you want it as a main, I made 24 larger ones that gave me 4 per serving for the 6 of us. My photo is made with beef and next time I will be using pork...as I am not a fan of the texture of ground chicken."

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400F.

Step 2

In a large bowl combine all the ingredients for the meatballs, using your hands works best.

Step 3

Wetting your hands makes forming the mixture into bite-size meatballs easier as it will not stick; form meatballs about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.

Step 4

Place meatballs on a non-stick baking sheet.

Step 5

Bake in preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until cooked through; stirring meatballs once, halfway through cooking time, to brown sides.

Step 6

While meatballs are cooking, prepare glaze.

Step 7

In a 10 inch deep non-stick skillet, whisk together all glaze ingredients.

Step 8

Cook over medium-high heat until mixture is hot and bubbly and jam has melted.

Step 9

Add cooked meatballs and mix gently, ensuring every meatball is coated with sauce.

Step 10

Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if using.

Step 11

Serve hot.

No special items needed.



These are fantastic for pot luck!!! I made a double batch of this a day ahead and warmed it all up in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for 40 minutes. Everyone loved them.

Yum!! I cut the recipe in half and ended up with 4 servings... I used them as an appetizer and the rest I served the next day over rice for a tasty lunch...I popped them into my crock pot to keep warm until I was ready to use...They ended up having a rich day color...not sure if it was due to the glaze cooking on low while we waited to eat...or if it was due to my dark kitchen...delicious...thanks for sharing your recipe...made for "Billboard" tag game...

Great meatballs, awesome sauce! Like Ellie I too served mine over rice then added the garnish of green onions and sesame seeds. So good my freezer stash will have me trying them as a hot appetizer. Recipe saved along side our family favourite.
