"This dish has German roots, but is widely prepared in Switzerland. I'm not sure exactly where I found this recipe, but it's been DH and grandson's favorite deer hunting camp meal for many years. It cooks in one skillet so clean up is minimal."

I love this combination and have tried several other recipes. I think this is my favorite one. I followed the recipe except I baked it. I combined the sauerkraut, onions, apple, potatoes, brown sugar & apple juice, mixed it well. Then poured if over the susages. Baked in 375 oven for 45 minutes uncovered. Delicious. 17 Dec. 16 I am cutting back on some high cal. ingredients so I took the liberty of eliminating the potatoes. This was very tasty even without the potatoes but it is perfect with the potatoes. No more cutting back. The sausage is Bison meat with Saskatoon Berries. A local Butcher makes them. You will see me reviewing this recipe again - next time exactly as written
