Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a small saucepan, simmer wine, sugar stirring for about 10 minutes.
Peel and cut pear into 8 wedges.
Simmer pear slices in wine until liquid begins to thicken slightly. You want a syrupy consistency.
Place french bread on a baking sheet.
Spread a layer of Gorgonzolla on top of each piece of bread.
Place 1 poached pear slice on each piece of bread.
Bake for 10 minutes, or until bread looks lightly toasted.
