Pan Fried Steak With Garlic & Mushrooms

"I love a pan fried steak that is seared, loaded with garlic and add with some hot spice served up with mushrooms. If you don't like mushrooms just omit them. I like my steak medium rare, still pink but not raw. You may cut slits in the steaks and insert the garlic but I like mine on top and then fried with the mushrooms. Your fry time may vary a bit due to the thickness of your steak. Plan ahead so your steak may rest with the garlic and bring steak to room temperature before frying I say filet steak in the recipe but any good cut will do. Serve with a baked potato with all the trimmings and a nice green salad"

Step 1

Lightly rub a bit of oil on both sides of each steak, sprinkle the hot spice to both sides of the steak and press it into the steaks

Step 2

Cover one side of each steak with thin slices of garlic, cover and place in fridge for at least 2 hours or up to 8 hours. Bring to room temperaure befor frying

Step 3

Melt the butter and oil togeher over high heat in a large heavy frypan (cast iron are perfect), when it is bubbling add the two steaks garlic side up, and fry for 4 minutes

Step 4

Add mushroom to the pan, scoop the garlic off the steak, mix with mushrooms, flip the steak, continue to fry for 4 more minutes Season with salt and pepper

Step 5

Let stand for two minutes, slice and serve,covering the steak with the garlic mushrooms

Very good steak! I used steak I got on sale but this steak was very tender and tasty. Served with baked potatoes and tomato slices. Thanks for sharing!

I used Tony Cajun Seasoning in this recipe and it gave it a nice little kick and great flavor! This is easy to prepare and results in a very flavorful steak that will see many repeats. Loved it! Thanks Bergy for this one! Linda

Great tasting steak!! I enjoy pan fried steak that is seared loaded with garlic and medium rare too, making this the perfect recipe for the lovely beef fillets I picked up in the city. I was very generous with the mushrooms, seasoned with Texmex and Four Pepper. Added a crisp garden salad making for a lovely lovely meal.

I used 16 ounces of mushrooms to make sure I had enough and doubled the garlic. This steak is excellent made this way. We ate it right up and my little man asked for seconds even before his plate was clean. We will have this again many times. I love that it's easy to prepare and so good!
