"I enjoy all the ingredients in this German dinner and using the slow cooker made it even more appealing. Found this in the RecipeLions newsletter and it said to serve with a salad but I think mashed potatoes or parsley noodles would be great with it."

Yum. I halved the recipe in my 1-quart crock pot and cut the kielbasa into smaller bite-size pieces. This was simple and good. Thanks for sharing, Lori.

I used brats, and a can of beer. The sauerkraut already had caraway seeds, so no need for celery seed. Served with smashed potatoes and left-over brussels sprouts. Yum! made for your football win

I cut the recipe in half...I made it for the hubby...so I added some brown sugar...only because the German way is to add either sugar or apple slices to the sauerkraut...otherwise it's to sour...(the American way)...he did feel that the kielbasa sausage lacked the bite he was use to...I think it was because of the long cooking time...he did eat everything on his plate and he has leftovers for tomorrow... made for Autumn Fever tag game...

This is a delicious and easy to make one pot meal. Other than halving the recipe I made as posted. The aroma alone had us anticipating and yes it was good! Served with freshly baked bread it was a meal in itself. Saved to my Family Favourites Cookbook.
