"This was originally posted on another site by Seasoned Cook, and after making and reviewing it, it fast became one of my favorites. I have been making it for about 5 years now and LOVE IT. This is what Seasoned Cook says about her recipe: "This was a favorite dish my mother always cooked for my family. She shared this dish at church suppers and reunions...now this generation enjoys it. A good mix of flavors!" Here is my review of this luscious chicken. I did make a few modifications because I didn't have a few things on hand, and it may have improved the flavor. I always make it with my modifications because I like it that way so much. My review: Excellent, EXCELLENT, ExCeLlEnT is all I can say. Don't miss out on this one folks! Man Oh Man was this ever GOOD! I just happened to have a whole cutup chicken in the fridge waiting to cook, so decided to try it. Am I glad I did! I was out of onions, so I used about 1/2 cup dried onion and just put them in with a little extra water and let them simmer for awhile, and I didn't have celery, so I used 1 teaspoon celery salt in place of the chopped celery and salt listed in the recipe. Thanks so much for sharing this family favorite with us Seasoned Cook. YUMMO!!!"

My family really liked this chicken! I used my grill outside to not heat up the kitchen, using a baking sheet and indirect heat. Worked beautifully. We had Sweet Potato Fries and Broccoli Salad with it for a very satisfying and delicious supper!

I made this using your changes Linda. I used 1/2 cup dried onion and put them in with a little extra water and let them simmer, and used 1 tsp celery salt in place of the celery and salt. It turned out so delicious and was so flavor packed. Yum!

I too used the celery salt instead of the celery and just cut back on the salt, and used the dried onion. Wow, what flavor!! Some of the best chicken I ever tasted! I made garlic green beans and garlic mashed taters to have with it. Mmmmm good!
