  • For best results, use Italian bread that is fresh and sliced 1-inch thick.
  • For a more intense flavor, use sliced almonds instead of flaked.

  • Substitute almond butter for the almonds - This substitution will provide a more creamy texture and a nuttier flavor.
  • Substitute maple syrup for the honey - This substitution will provide a sweeter and more intense flavor than honey.

Chocolate French Toast Mix 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder with the honey and ricotta. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar to the egg mixture. Top with chocolate chips and sliced strawberries.

Fresh Fruit Salad - This light and refreshing dish is the perfect accompaniment to the Italian French Toast. The sweetness of the fruit will balance out the savory flavors of the sandwich, while the crunchy texture of the fruit will provide a nice contrast to the soft toast.

Buttered Asparagus: Buttered asparagus is a simple yet delicious side dish that pairs perfectly with the Italian French Toast. The buttery flavor of the asparagus will complement the savory flavors of the sandwich, while the crunchy texture of the asparagus provides a nice contrast to the soft toast.

Had to try this and we loved them! I poured a little maple syrup on mine and it was delicious. I doubled it to make enough for my daughter and I. She ate it all!

This is eye candy as well as a taste pleaser! Lovely Sunday brunch. I used 2 eggs but my bread was only 3/4" thick so there was egg left over. The ricotta with the honey makes the toast just sweet enough. A do again brunch for sure.

Wow, did I ever enjoy this quick and easy to make french toast. It was so flavorful. I like the addition of the ricotta cheese and almonds, it added nice flavor and interesting texture. Made exactly as written and I wouldn't change a thing. Made for Culinary Quest for the Suitcase Gourmets.

Made this recipe for two pieces of bread but only used one egg with the milk, which worked perfect to coat both pieces. I loved the added sweetness from the honey/ricotta mixture but also enjoyed the nice and toasty almond slices, so good. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Made for CQ 2014.
