Step 1

Combine vinegar, 2 teaspoons sugar, and lemon juice in heavy small saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Boil until syrup is reduced to scant 1/4 cup, about 3 minutes. Transfer to small bowl; cool completely. (Can be made 2 days ahead. Cover and refrigerate.)

Step 2

Combine mascarpone, cream, vanilla, and 2 tablespoons sugar in medium bowl. Whisk until thick soft peaks form. Cover and refrigerate up to 4 hours.

Step 3

Combine berries and remaining 2 tablespoons sugar in large bowl; drizzle with balsamic syrup and toss to blend. Let stand 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 4

Divide berries and syrup among 6 goblets.

Step 5

Top with mascarpone mixture.

I love berries and whipped cream and this is a lovely posh version. The mascarpone took the edge off the sweetness of the cream and complimented the berries. I slightly overcooked the glaze so it seized up when it hit my cold berries, but is was still delicious. I picked a big bowl of raspberries from our bushes this morning , so I mostly used them with a few of the last of the crop of strawberries I had tucked in the freezer. Loved this! That whipped mascarpone is to die for! I wasn't sure it was going to whip up into soft peaks, but sure enough - it did. Loved the combo, but I think I'll find many more uses for the whipped mascarpone! Made for SWT 2019 - The Traveling Tastebuds

O boy was this delicious! We were both in strawberries-balsamico-and-cream heaven. I used whipping cream because heavy cream is impossible to find in my region, but I think that didn't really change a thing. This is an instant keeper. Thanks for sharing!
