"This is a recipe I found at crispywaffledotcom by Sheryl Cababa. She states that this recipe is usually made with long beans, but because of where she lives, they aren't available, she decided to sub haricots verts. She stated that this type of recipe normally included shrimp or pork, along with tomatoes and onions and usually some type of soy or fish sauce. Due to the delicate flavor of haricots verts, she went with very minimal additional ingredients and keep to vegetables only."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Rinse the green beans and drain in a colander.

Step 2

Heat the wok over high heat. Add a small glug of vegetable oil and swirl around immediately.

Step 3

Add the green beans and a big pinch of sea salt and stir for one minute.

Step 4

Add 2-3 tablespoons water. Continue to stir fry until the beans almost entirely absorb the water (there should be a little bit at the bottom of the pan).

Step 5

Add the garlic and give it a quick two or three stirs. Add the oyster sauce and give it another quick stir.

Step 6

Immediately turn the whole thing out into a serving dish.

I lucked in buying some just picked green beans. They were perfect for this treatment - I would definitely make them again.

Daily Inspiration

Loved these stir-fried green beans -- used the haricots verts and they were perfect. Quick and easy to make. I have another bag of them, so I'll get to make this dish again. : )

We really liked these beans - they were super easy to make and a nice change from the usual steamed version we make! Next time, we'll probably add a little more garlic (we're super garlic fans!). Thanks for posting! Made for CQ3.

I loved these green beans. I was afraid the hoisin sauce flavor would be too strong, but it was perfect. The green beans were crispy (mine were a little too crispy, so next time I will either cook them longer or pre- blanch the beans) and super flavorful. I will definitely be doing these green beans again. Thank you!
