"I've been making these forever!! The list of ingredients seem so simple, but the flavor is amazing. You don't know what you're missing if you haven't made these. They were given to me by a friend and I make them often for home and I bring them to potlucks. They're my kids favorite dish."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Cut chicken wings into 3 sections; discard wing tips.

Step 2

In a large plastic bag or shallow bowl, combine flour and salt. Add wings in small batches; toss to coat. (Place floured wings in refrigerator; this helps flour to adhere to chicken.)

Step 3

In an electric skillet or deep fat fryer, heat oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Fry wings, a few at a time, until juices run clear, about 8 - 10 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

Step 4

In a bowl, combine sugar, soy sauce, garlic scallions and jalepeno (optional). Dip fried wings in sauce. Serve immediately.

Step 5

NOTE: I normally double the sauce because it's great and adds more flavor. For a crispy result and for a great end product, the temperature of the oil and fry time is essential. Therefore, if you find that your wings aren't crispy enough when cooked for the 8 - 10 minutes, fry them up a little longer until they are crispy!

Tips

  • Deep electric fryer or a deep pot which you'll add oil

Oh these are soooooo good!! The combination of frying the wings and then dipping them into that sweet soy sauce mixture make these so tasty! We all loved them! Thank you!

After baking these wings I put them under the broiler for a few minutes so that they would crisp up really well. They are exceptionally delicious and you can be assured that they will be made again and again!

Great wings for my recent Christmas party! They disappeared real fast and I got lots of compliments on them. I doubled the sauce and kept them on warm in a crock pot after frying them. Saving for future use!

Very good wings -- we cut down the amount of chicken a lot and also baked them increasing the cooking time -- the sauce was great and definitely made the recipe! Thanks for sharing!

Yum! The clingy sauce makes this recipe. I used drumsticks as I had them on hand and elected to bake them. Of course this increased the cooking time, but it was successful. As suggested I doubled the sauce and used the full amount of minced garlic. (These were large cloves too.) I mixed the sauce before the chicken was done and it set on the counter. When I tasted it before dunking the chicken I found the "raw" garlic flavor overwhelming. I popped the sauce into the microwave to tame the garlic. I found this also finished dissolving the sugar. I then poured the heated sauce over the chicken and rolled it with tongs. The sauce was also terrific on the fried rice served alongside. Overall I was very happy with heating the sauce and will make this again. Thank you for sharing the recipe!
