Step by Step Method

Step 1

Stir together ingredients in a saucepan or rice cooker until chicken base dissolves. If using rice cooker, operate as usual.

Step 2

If cooking on stovetop, bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.

Step 3

At the end of cooking time, layer a clean dishtowel between the lid and the pot and let it sit for 10-15 minutes (do this with rice cooker turned off or stove turned off and away from a hot burner). Then remove towel and fluff rice with a fork before serving.

I used brown rice and reduced sodium soy sauce. Healthy and delicious is what it's all about for me!

I used dry chicken packets that are salt free, and didn't use the soy sauce to keep the sodium down. I added peas, mushrooms and onions to the rice when it was cooking. It was delish!
