Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a large nonstick skillet heat oil over medium-high. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute, being careful not to burn.

Step 2

Add orzo and rice; cook 4-6 minutes longer or until lightly browned.

Step 3

Stir in broth and water.

Step 4

Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes, until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed. (Add more water as needed if rice and pasta are not done before liquid is absorbed).

Step 5

Stir in the onions, basil, parsley and salt.

Step 6

Serve. Sprinkle some grated Parmesan on top if desired.

I love pilaf and this is sooooooo garlicky and delicious! Not to mention easy to make. I made as directed, except I used butter instead of olive oil.

This is really good even before adding the basil and parsley. I put the white parts of the green onions in after it had cooked about 7 minutes. Then added everything else as directed. Great side!

Fabulous recipe. I followed the recipe except for cooking the onions for a couple of minutes in the rice before adding the other herbs, and using a sweet beer instead of broth. Would go with just about anything!

This recipe makes for a great side. We enjoyed it with our fish. I added extra garlic because I'm a garlic lover and love the taste of the addition of the last minute herbs as it enhances this dish. Thank you Mikekey for sharing.
