"A bit of a change from Corned Beef & Cabbage. The Apples adds a slight pleasant sweet flavour to the sauerkraut. I like serving horseradish along side or grainy mustard. Your timing depends on the thickness of the brisket. I find 5 hours is just right for most"

Step 1
Mix together the sauerkraut, onion & chopped apples
Step 2
Place half the kraut mixture in the bottom of your crock pot
Step 3
Place the corned beef on top
Step 4
Paint the corned beef with the mustard
Step 5
Cover with remaining kraut mixture
Step 6
Pour in the wine
Step 7
Cook for 5 hours on low
Step 8
Slice thickly, serve with the kraut, potatoes and horseradish on the side
