"One of my all-tiem best loved chicken marinades. I've probably made this way more with just the marinated chicken than I have with peanut sauce added. The sauce I'd break out mostly for guests. Prep time does not include overnight marinating."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Combine soy sauce, lime juice and garlic powder in a plastic bag.
Step 2
Add chicken to the bag, place bag in a bowl and marinate in refrigerator overnight, turning bag occasionally.
Step 3
Drain, reserving marinade.
Step 4
Thread marinated chicken on skewer alternately with pepper squares.
Step 5
Broil or grill 4-5 inches from heat about 5-7 minutes, until chicken is tender, turning once and occasionally brushing on marinade.
Step 6
Serve with lime wedges and peanut sauce.

To make peanut sauce:

In small saucepan over medium heat stir togher butter, sugar and cornstarch until blended. Gradually stir in buttermilk/yogurt, soy sauce and hot pepper sauce.
Step 9
Bring to a simmer and cook 1 minute.
