"This is a delicious casserole that we have often in the colder weather. It is so delicious and easy to whip up during the week when my schedule is so hectic. My lil guy loves it, and that is always a plus! Sometimes I prepare it ahead and then toss it in the oven when I get home from work. Voila, dinner is served!"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2

Pour olive oil into a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Step 3

Crush garlic and add into baking dish. Mix garlic in, and evenly spread on the bottom of the pan.

Step 4

Sprinkle with hot pepper flakes.

Step 5

Place cut up chicken into the dish.

Step 6

Pour marinara sauce evenly over chicken, and top with chopped basil.

Step 7

Layer with half the Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. (You can also add a sprinkling of dry Italian seasoning to both cheese layers).

Step 8

Top with crushed croutons (I crush them in the bag with a rolling pin first).

Step 9

Top with remaining cheeses.

Step 10

Bake uncovered, for 30-40 minutes. You want to make sure chicken is done, so if the top starts to brown a little too much, cover with foil.

I made this awesome casserole for my family when visiting. They went wild for it! I did sub the Parmesan for Asiago as that is what I had. Great flavour and easy to put together. Thank you for sharing Megan! Made for Billboard Recipe tag.

After a long day at work this was easy for me to make and get on the table. It had a great flavor and the basil and parm really added to it. I could have this often, so 5 stars from me to you!

Most of our meals revolve around chicken and as I have always said one cannot have too many recipes for chicken breasts! Made as posted, it makes for one awesome casserole, and its super easy as well. A real winner at our house. I put a copy into my recipe drawer to keep close at hand. April 9, tagged this awesome recipe to try in individual casserole dishes. YES to a lovely meal for one and three for the freezer. Delighted to say it is very freezer friendly! How good is that!! Thank you for a great recipe that works for company and makes a great meal for me!
