"This is a really delicious baked bread. Full of flavor; but, very easy to make. Perfect for BBQ's, entertaining, game/card night with friends, or just a nice weeknight or Sunday dinner. You can even make this ahead; then, bake and serve. The base for this recipe originally came from a Southern Living recipe; although, I have seen similar versions on many blogs and websites recently."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Filling ... Mix everything together in a small bowl, making sure everything is combined. Spread or spoon on the bread halves which are lightly hollowed out. Make sure to spread the filling over the bread; then, add the cheese topping.
Step 2
Bake ... Lay on a sheet pan, lined with foil (for easy clean up), and cover with foil. Bake 20 minutes in a 350 degree oven, middle shelf. Then, remove the foil, and continue to bake another 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted and lightly golden brown.
Step 3
Serve ... Let it rest a few minutes before slicing. Then slice, serve, and ENJOY! It really is a great side to so many dishes.
Step 4
Note: That extra bread you scooped out - save and freeze. Great to add as a thickener to soups, perfect for stuffing or bread crumbs, etc.
