"If you want to you can just make these ahead and freeze then pop out of the freezer and bake frozen, you could put some jarred or canned pickled jalapeno on instead of green chilies on them if you like extra spicy. This makes a large amount of squares (48) the amounts can be cut in half or bake what you want then freeze the rest"

Step by Step Method
Step 1
In a bowl, cream butter, cheese spread and egg until smooth. Stir in chilies, picante sauce and cheddar cheese. Spread about 1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons cheese mixture on each slice of one loaf of bread.
Step 2
Top with remaining bread; spread with more cheese mixture. Cut each sandwich into four squares; place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 10 to 15 minutes.
Step 3
To make ahead then freeze; place unbaked squares in a single layer on a baking sheet. Freeze for 1 hour. Remove from the baking sheet and store in an airtight container in the freezer until needed. To bake frozen, place squares on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 15-20 minutes or until bubbly and browned.
