Step 1

Soak beans overnight and discard water.

Step 2

Place all ingredients except wine vinegar, salt and pepper in a crockpot.

Step 3

Simmer until beans are tender, cooking 6 hours low

Step 4

Puree 2 cups of soup and return to pot.

Step 5

Add wine vinegar and liquid smoke, mix well.

Step 6

Salt and pepper to taste.

Step 7

Garnish with bacon

Flavour taste fantastic real comfort food. Serving size for four people would be huge though the DS and I hardly made a dent in the soup and he had 2 serves and I was struggling to get through one with some garlic bread on the side. For my crock pot I cooked on low for 4 hours but they were no were near cooked so put onto high and cooked for a further 2 hours and then hit it with the stick blender to much up some of the soup and cooked for a further hour on high and it was perfecto, I think if I had used my bigger crock pot it would have been cooked in the time as per instructions. Also instead of bacon I used prosciutto which I just laid on top instead of crumbling. Thank you dienia b made for Billboard Recipe tag game.
