Step by Step Method

Step 1

Place bratwurst and beer in medium saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 10 minutes. Remove from heat; let bratwurst cool in beer.

Step 2

In 10-inch frying pan cook onion in oil over medium heat until browned, 8 to 10 minutes.

Step 3

Add sauerkraut, sugar, salt, and red pepper; mix well. Continue cooking for 5 minutes to blend flavors.

Step 4

Place bratwurst in center of cooking grate. Grill 5 to 6 minutes or until browned and heated throughout, turning once halfway through grilling time.

Step 5

Split each in half lengthwise. Place 1/4 of sauerkraut mixture down center of each tortilla.

Step 6

Place 2 bratwurst halves on top of filling.

Step 7

Spread 1 tablespoon mustard on bratwurst and top with a slice of cheese.

Step 8

Fold two sides of tortilla over cheese; fold remaining bottom and top halves of tortilla to close.

Step 9

Place tortilla wraps flap-side down on grill; grill 3 to 4 minutes or until browned and heated through, turning once halfway through grilling time.

Step 10

Beer Recommendation: A strongly malted pale lager will bow to the tangy sauerkraut and crown the bratwurst king of your taste buds.

These wraps could easily be a 10 star rating! Used Johnsonville beer brats and Vlasic sauerkraut, without the caraway seeds, and a can of Miller High Life beer. Did not add the red pepper flakes but I dont do hot/spicy very well. My grill pan worked out great getting the brats nice and brown along with the grill marks on the tortillas. Everything inside that wrap went together perfectly and I loved every bite. This is going in my favorite recipes folder! Made and reviewed for Susie's World Tour 2019 - Fusion.

My tortilla's were smaller than 10" so I used 2 and 1/2 bratwurst in each. Besause I don't BBQ anymore II made them in a fry pan. These are so delicious I know it won't be long before I make them again. I will make the onion/ sauerkraut mixture by itself to have with another meal. It is so delicious.

The hubby loved this...he did request additional mustard to dip the wrap in...but that's not unusual for him..I cooked it on my cast iron grill pan...and they came out great...made for your week #15 win in the "Football" tag game...
