Step 1

Place all in a 7 inch skillet, cover, bring to a boil for 20 minutes.

Step 2

Stir and turn the brats over.

Step 3

Lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

Step 4

Remove cover and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes more.

Step 5

Add beer as need to prevent burning.

Step 6

Serve on heated plates with kraut and onion on top or serve on rolls with added mustard.

Step 7

I sometimes crumble Stilton cheese on top.

No special items needed.


Both the hubby and I thought we would just love this dish...but it lacked seasoning...I added some salt and caraway seeds and at the end of cooking I removed everything except the that they could brown...the end result was enjoyed by the hubby...he loved it with German rye bread with butter and some smashed potatoes...made for "Alphabet" tag game at FFF...

I love Brats & Kraut. This is so good that I made a pig of myself and had 2 brats and a generous serving of Kraut. Served with boiled potatoes & fresh Apple slices. Mmmmm good. Extra Grey Poupon mustard on the brats. This will be served again soon.
