Step 1: Place all in a 7 inch skillet, cover, bring to a boil for 20 minutes.
Step 2: Stir and turn the brats over.
Step 3: Lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
Step 4: Remove cover and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes more.
Step 5: Add beer as need to prevent burning.
Step 6: Serve on heated plates with kraut and onion on top or serve on rolls with added mustard.
Step 7: I sometimes crumble Stilton cheese on top.
