"DH asked me to save this recipe to make some time soon. All times are estimated as well as serving size. Since making this slice and to suit the DH I lessened the sugar as he does not like it over sweet; I also made the apples 1st so they had time to cool down before making the base next and putting into the lined tin and lastly making the crumble. Also when I peeled and sliced the apples I put a squirt of lemon juice so that would not turn brown and when I cooked them I only cooked them for 5 to 7 minutes so that the apples on the bottom of the pot were on the soft side but the ones on the top were still quite firm and they softened up in the cooking time in th oven."

Very good dessert -- it is sweet so I should have cut down on the sugar as suggested, but it was enjoyed just as it was prepared. Thanks for sharing!
