"I have been making this tasty butter spread for a very long time, we have 5 apple trees in our back yard and this is a great way to use up apples. Spread this on toast or bagels and enjoy!!"
Peel the apples and remove the cores; chop and toss into a baking pan.
Add 1/4 cup brown sugar, water, cinnamon and lemon juice; stir making sure the apples are evenly coated.
Bake the mixture in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for 30 minutes or until apples are softened.
Remove from oven and mash the apples with a fork, stir in the remaining brown sugar; add the butter and return to oven.
Bake for another 20 minutes or until butter is completely melted; allow cooling to room temperature.
Blend with an electric mixture, pour into containers, cover and place in the refrigerator until ready to use.
