Step 1: Peel the apples and remove the cores; chop and toss into a baking pan.
Step 2: Add 1/4 cup brown sugar, water, cinnamon and lemon juice; stir making sure the apples are evenly coated.
Step 3: Bake the mixture in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for 30 minutes or until apples are softened.
Step 4: Remove from oven and mash the apples with a fork, stir in the remaining brown sugar; add the butter and return to oven.
Step 5: Bake for another 20 minutes or until butter is completely melted; allow cooling to room temperature.
Step 6: Blend with an electric mixture, pour into containers, cover and place in the refrigerator until ready to use.
