Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 180C/160C fan forced.
Step 2
Place a 20cm (base measurement) 2 litre (8 cup) round ovenproof dish on an oven tray.
Step 3
Combine apple and cinnamon in a heavy based saucepan over moderate heat and cook, covered, stirring occasionally, for 6 minutes or until apple is tender and then remove from heat and cool and then add the caramel and cream, mix well and then spoon into prepared dish.
Step 4
Sift flour and extra cinnamon into a bowl and stir in demerara sugar, flaked almonds and desiccated coconut.
Step 5
Melt butter and golden syrup in a small saucepan over moderate heat and then stir into flour mixture to form a coarse crumble and sprinkle over apple in dish.
Step 6
Bake for 20 minutes or until golden and serve with custard.
