"Just slightly sweet, these small biscuits are a treat served with either a little honey butter or even a tiny drizzle of flavorful honey. The recipe should make about 36 biscuits, 2 per serving."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F & set out several baking sheets.

Step 2

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt & sugar, mixing well.

Step 3

Using a pastry cutter, blend the cold butter into the flour mixture until crumbly.

Step 4

Add the buttermilk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened, then shape into a ball & knead 4 or 5 times.

Step 5

On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to a thickness of 1/2 inch, then cut with a 1 3/4-inch round cutter, placing biscuits on baking sheets. Brush biscuits lightly with milk.

Step 6

Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned, then remove biscuits to a wire rack, or if serving immediately, to a serving platter.

These are tasty little biscuits and very easy to make. I added raisins to them and they were a perfect addition. I forgot to brush the milk on top of the biscuits before baking them but it did not seem to matter as they looked and tasted great. Made for the Billboard Recipe Tag game.

These turned out great! The only thing I did differently was froze the butter and shredded it, then carefully mixed it in, careful not to melt the butter. They came out so flakey! I also added craisins and tad more sugar. Instead of using a biscuit cutter I cut them into squares. Thanks for the 'keeper'!
