Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180dg C. (350F/Gas4)
Step 2
Heat the oil in a deep sided fry pan, then add the onions and cook over a low heat, stirring the onions frequently for 15 minutes or until the onions evenly brown.
Step 3
When cooked transfer the onions to a small baking dish, packing them in tightly and sprinkle with the garlic and thyme, then spoon over the balsamic vinegar.
Step 4
Season with a little salt and pepper to taste and bake in the oven for 20 minutes; stirring onions every 5 minutes.
Step 5
When ready to serve drizzle over the olive oil or chili oil. Serve hot or cold.
